ENDING HIV IN OKLAHOMA

It takes a coordinated effort between a number of institutions and agencies to conquer something like an Epidemic. End HIV Oklahoma, inc. creates, funds and actively coordinates programs with other agencies, community-based organizations (CBO's) and health professionals to end the epidemic of HIV.

It also takes a cadre of volunteers to make end the epidemic. If you would like to participate in one of the projects below or future projects, click on the button here to sign up and our volunteer coordinator will contact you.

PROJECTS TO END HIV IN OKLAHOMA

-Know Your Status Campaigns-

Before anything else everyone must "know their status" by testing anyone that has ever had a possible exposure to HIV in their lifetime. By performing large group testing and making testing readily available helps to normalize routine testing. You will see that they know their status when you see the red band-aid and hear them say "I know my status, do you?"

-Drag Out HIV-

Drag Queens are icons for an at-risk community. Through the Drag Out HIV project, 12 drag queens are selected based on their passion to be a dragtavist in the fight against HIV. They participate in a yearly calendar, talk about HIV prevention and treatment in their performances. If you are a Drag Queen and want to participate in the next calendar, click HERE to apply.

-Partnering with Colleges/Universities-

Colleges and Universities are places where people are just beginning to explore their adulthood and encounter a number of opportunities to be exposed to, not only HIV, but a number of other sexually transmitted infections (STI's). End HIV Oklahoma partners with colleges and universities to provide education and identifying safe spaces where students can get routine testing for HIV, STI's, and pregnancy prevention. Through partnerships with medical providers or the student health services, residential advisors, and student organizations we can decrease the risk of lifelong health consequences for these new adults. If you want to include healthy sex practices in your college/university, contact our staff and we will develop a program specifically for your school.

-Community outreach and testing-

Through relationships with corporations, schools, and other community groups those that have ever been possibly exposed can know their status. We work with community organizations to decrease the stigma of HIV testing by creating safe spaces to show that you "Know Your Status". Contact our staff today to get a fun event organized for your organization to get tested.

-END HIV Oklahoma Symposium for Medical Professionals-

The greatest hope for ending the epidemic of HIV in Oklahoma is having medical providers skilled to identify people at risk and appropriately provide prevention and treatment strategies. Through statewide symposiums targeting emergency care, urgent care, and primary care providers, medical providers are trained on the epidemiology of HIV and provided with the education about how to screen and test for HIV, how to provide post exposure prophylaxis (PEP), how to screen and provide access to pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP), and how to get those that are positive to rapid anti-retroviral therapy. If you would like to be on the mailing list for the symposiums that will begin in 2025 get on the list by clicking here.

-END HIV Network Hotline-

Having immediately available experts and resources in HIV prevention, treatment, and linkage to care is important for citizens and medical providers alike. End HIV OK is developing the network of resources and hotline to respond 24 hours a day to assist with ending HIV in Oklahoma. Through a growing network of resources all counties should have access to testing, PEP, PrEP, and HIV treatment. If you are an HIV resource in the State of Oklahoma, make sure you are part of the END HIV Network by clicking HERE.
